Hydrosat Awarded NASA Commercial Satellite Data Acquisition Contract 

Thermal infrared data provider joins NASA’s Commercial Satellite Data Acquisition Program to support Earth science research and applications 

[WASHINGTON,  D.C. – June 24, 2026] – Hydrosat, the leading provider of thermal infrared satellite data and AI-powered analytics, announced it has been awarded a contract under NASA’s Commercial Satellite Data Acquisition (CSDA) Program. The award is part of NASA’s multiple-award Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract with a maximum cumulative value of $476 million through November 2028. 

Through the program, Hydrosat will provide commercial thermal infrared and visible/near-infrared satellite data to support Earth science research and applications. The award expands NASA’s access to high-frequency thermal observations that complement existing Earth observation missions and provide new opportunities for scientific research and operational analysis.

Hydrosat develops and operates a commercial thermal infrared satellite constellation that delivers persistent, high-resolution land surface temperature observations at global scale. NASA’s Commercial Satellite Data Acquisition (CSDA) Program serves as the agency’s primary mechanism for identifying, evaluating, and acquiring commercial Earth observation data that complement NASA’s existing observing capabilities. Following evaluation, approved datasets are made available to authorized researchers through NASA’s Satellite Data Explorer, expanding access to innovative commercial data that supports Earth science research and accelerates scientific discovery. 

NASA’s Commercial Satellite Data Acquisition Program serves as the agency’s central mechanism for identifying, evaluating and acquiring commercial Earth observation data that augment NASA’s own observing capabilities. Following their evaluation, commercial datasets are made available to authorized researchers through NASA’s Satellite Data Explorer, helping accelerate scientific discovery while expanding access to innovative commercial Earth observation technologies.
